Artists Teaching Art
Incredibly grateful for a magical experience of mandala manifesting with 43 fifth graders at Bayside MLK and Marin Horizon schools. This program was in conjunction with Sausalito Arts Festival Foundation's Artists Teaching Art initiative.
During each session (there were five), the children meditated on The Earth as Sacred, Our Bodies as Sacred, and a Sacred Relationship with another being (human animal or nature). They then drew their mandalas, expressing the sensations and emotions of this experience through shapes, symbols, and colors. We reflected on how to express this love through our hearts, hands and observing minds. We also created an outdoor garden mandala. With great gratitude to Mandana Cilmi, Director of SAFF Artist's teaching art, Susan Cassidy, educator at MLK school, Marin City and Stevie Lee, educator at Marin Horizons School, Mill Valley, Ca.
